WHO AM I?
Hello, my name is Jerome, and I am a 30-year-old Belgian 3D graphics designer specializing in environment and props art. I am also an independent game writer and Unity Developer, with a passion for photo editing and compositing.
WHERE DID I GRADUATE FROM?
I graduated from "HAUTE ÉCOLE ALBERT JACQUARD" in Namur, Belgium, in 2016 with a three-year Bachelor's degree in 3D Artist and Video Game Development, followed by a one-year Master's program specializing in video game development in 2017.
SO WHAT AFTER GRADUATION THEN?
For a few months while searching for a job, I dedicated my time to developing my first Android game, "Fast-Areas," entirely from scratch using the Unity engine. Shortly thereafter, I created my second Android game, "Destroy The Dot." This development phase took place just before I started my employment with "Touch-Reality" in July 2018, where I continued to work until March 2023. During my time at Touch-Reality, I also developed my latest Android game "Fast-Areas Neon".
AT TOUCH-REALITY, WHAT DID YOU DO?
First, let me introduce "Touch-Reality," a company that develops applications tailored for kitchen designers. These applications are built using Unity 3D for the UI/UX and 3D rendering.
I initially joined as a 3D artist, but due to my experiences, knowledge, and skills in Unity, I quickly transitioned from a 3D artist to a Technical Artist and Unity Developer. While I still engaged in 3D modeling when necessary, my responsibilities expanded to encompass the entire rendering pipeline, including light and shadows, rendering quality and level, rendering optimization, and shader development. The goal was to achieve realistic, fully real-time rendering at up to 4K resolution, maintaining a minimum of 30FPS.
Beyond rendering and visuals, I also managed various user features in the application, handling aspects like full-stack development and establishing links between the back office and front office.
Another significant contribution was the complete overhaul of the application's UI/UX. I modernized and simplified the user experience as much as possible. Simultaneously, I ensured the flexibility to add new UI windows for future users by utilizing Unity prefabs.
In addition to the main Unity application, I collaborated in a duo to develop a web version of the primary application. We utilized Material UI React for the user interface and the main site, coupled with Unity Web for the 3D rendering.
I would like to express my gratitude to Touch-Reality for the opportunities and challenges they provided me. However, after nearly five years, I felt it was time for a new adventure—freelancing and self-employment.
SO YOU'RE FREELANCE NOW?
That's correct. Since March 2023, I have been working as a freelancer. In my free time, I continue to develop mobile and soon PC games. Additionally, I am in the process of porting my two latest Android games, Fast-Area Neon [link: https://vitadb.rinnegatamante.it/#/info/1083] and Destroy The Dot [link: https://vitadb.rinnegatamante.it/#/info/1084], for PlayStation Vita.
And I'll continue developing more game and for more platform in the future.
Beside I'm still looking for a job opportunities in Technical artist and Unity developper roles.
